Some Pics and Opinions

Ok, so I tried out a couple of outfits this past week... Actually more than a couple but these are the only ones I got pictures of... :)

I am not exactly sure if they work or not... The colors do, but I am not sure about the styles and cuts of the pieces... What do you think???

Yellow, navy, and green... They go together right??? :) 

I really wanted to wear my new green cardigan and I had to wear a skirt to work so this is what I came up with... :)

This day happened to be the day that the temperature reached 70... So I thought "What the heck, I'll wear shorts!!!"... If you recall, I mentioned in a previous post a certain pair of yellow shorts I bought recently... Since the skirt I originally had on was mostly yellow, I figured solid yellow shorts would go too... :)

Oh, btw, I am actually wearing a cami with this... It is pale yellow and blends with my skin... :)

I like this outfit... I got the dress last year at a thrift store but haven't been able to fit into it until now... Yay for Weight Watchers!!!!! :)

Who watched the Oscars last night!!!! I didn't, but reading about it was my main occupation this morning before work... :) I love looking at all the gowns and reading all the silly opinions about who was there with who, who won what, and  who should have won what... Silly, I know, but don't be hatin... :P 

 The Artist and Hugo dominated the Awards... Which is very surprising and refreshing... I haven't seen either of them yet, but I have heard they are great and are on my list of movies to watch... 

Most of the gowns this year were pretty good... My favorites are Natalie Portman's, Gwyneth Paltrow's, and Octavia Spencer's... 

Seriously, award shows don't matter much... But they are fun for a week... :)

Blogging is fun... When you have a topic to blog about... I don't... So I thought I would try my hand at a "random" post... Those seem to be in vogue in the blogger world right now... How about let's start with a random picture from Pinterest!!! :)

Yes, that's right... Yellow bottoms... Or more specifically, yellow shorts... You see, a couple weeks ago, I was thrift store shopping with a friend and she practically forced me to buy this hideous pair of yellow shorts... They are kind of a J Crew preppy style... Hideously gross... Why then did I buy them??? I don't know... Maybe I wanted to be bold and go outside my comfort zone... Maybe I succumbed to peer pressure... Either way, I now have a pair of yellow shorts for when I am feeling adventurous... :) Oh, and I did actually look it up and yellow shorts are going to be in this spring :)

Ballroom Dancing...  Is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have finally started lessons... I have been doing English Country Dancing for almost three years now but I wanted to also do ballroom... and Latin... and swing... So I am... :) 

I am learning, however, that all these things that I put on my list, I may not be able to do all at once... What with chiropractor visits at 50 bucks a pop and other expenses such as gas and groceries, ballroom dance lessons may have to wait a month... or two... :( But hey, it isn't like the studio is going anywhere... And I have already paid for the three introductory classes... I will get there even if I have to wait a little bit longer than I wanted... :)


Nail polish makes me happy... Right now my color of choice is "Aquadelic" by China Glaze... It isn't often that I paint my finger nails because I get all OCD about chipping, but every once in a while one needs a little pop of color in one's life... And it looks sooo adorable next to my pink moleskine journal... What is your favorite nail polish brand??? I LOVE China Glaze because the have such amazing colors!!!! Neon in pretty much everything... :)


I am going to put in a little plug for a future post... My church has a young persons Bible study and right now we are studying the book "Not a Fan"... It is a really great book so far... The basic premise of the book is asking Christians "Are you a fan, or are you a follower of Jesus?"... In other words, what is your relationship status with the Lord???... It has been super challenging and encouraging for me so far... I will hopefully get a post started on it and have it up in a couple of weeks... 


So how was that for a random post??? I am hoping to get myself on a blogging schedule so keep a watch out for more frequent postings!!! :)

Valentine Shmalentine

One doesn't like to be a hater... But this year, I really wasn't looking forward to Valentine's Day... A girl doesn't like to be twenty and single. So this year, I was going to commiserate the day instead of celebrate it. I was all geared for wearing green (the opposite of red according to Wikipedia) and being "anti" traditional. But then a facebook status of a friend challenged me to rethink my attitude... It basically said that romantic love is great... But even if you are single, you still have the love of God... And that is worth celebrating even more than romantic love... So I changed my attitude and wore pink... :)


Happy Valentine's Day a day late... (doing holiday or event posts a day late seems to be a habit of mine... I don't see any reason to change now... :))

Ok, so when it comes to football, I just root for whoever my dad says to root for... And in this case, we don't like the Patriots... Not exactly sure why, but whatever... So let's go Giants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

My 2012 To Do

I know it is a little late to do a New Year's post... But considering I was doing my birthday post around New Years and my birthday is in November, I think I am doing ok to be only one month behind... ;)

I like to think of this as a "To Do List" rather than "New Year's Resolutions"... Resolutions can and will be broken and then you get all down and depressed only to work yourself back up mid December and the whole process starts all over again... But lists are different... You can check things off of lists and have a wonderful feeling of accomplishment that motivates you to do the next thing on your list... I love lists... (the Michael's dollar bins are a wonderful outlet for list people... all those stinkin adorable note pads with matching notebooks!!!! :D)

I am also a notebook person... I have recently been introduced to moleskin journals... I just bought my first two at Target today... And they are pink... Happy early Singles Awareness Day to me!!! :D

Ok, anyway, back to my 2012 To Do List... This is a work in progress... Both in checking off and adding... So I think I will make a tab at the top of my blog for my ever evolving inventory of future  accomplishments... I have already done a couple of the things on my list as you will see below... I will mark them out as I do them... :)

11 Random things about me...

 1) I buy something from the dollar bins every time I go to Michael's...

2) I just filled my graduation album with pictures from my graduation ceremony... Almost two years after I graduated...

3) I still have pictures from my second graduation reception to order to finish filling my graduation album...

4) I am going to start taking ballroom dancing lessons!!! :)

5) I am going for the Giants in the Superbowl this year... :)

6) I love cheese... :)

7) I love the show Once Upon a Time...

8) I want to learn French, but I don't really care about visiting France...

9) I can't parallel park...

10) I am a Weight Watchers member...

11) My top three favorite accents are British, Australian, and Scottish... ;)

Ok, now for the questions part...

1) What are your views on modern fashion, and how do you define modesty? Ack, that is an involved one!!! ;) For the most part, I like modern fashion... From what I have seen, I think there may be a few dumb looks coming out this year, but the colors are neat... I don't think that you should follow the trends for the sake of fitting in, but neither should you reject a certain look just because it is trendy... There is a balance to everything. My definition of modesty is... What glorifies the Lord??? What makes you feel beautiful??? What is considerate to your brothers in Christ??? Notice I put them in that order... Some people tend to overlook and completely reject the first two and focus exclusively on the last one... They think that not exciting sexual desires is the sole purpose of clothing... Like the Muslim Burka... I think that modesty should be between a girl and the Lord... Clothing represents a covering of sins for humans (go back to the Garden of Eden when God first clothed Adam and Eve) and as such it should be an exciting experience that brings honor and glory to the Lord... Not doubt and paranoia about whether or not a guy will give me a "look" if I wear this... Any way, rant over... ;)

2) What did 2011 teach you? It taught me a new meaning for what "staying at home" truely means... The first year after high school I stayed home and nannyed... I hated it... I hated being confined and never going anywhere and having to chase around a two year old in between dull things like laundry and dishes... And then I got two part time jobs... And my world went from always being at home to never being at home... Contrast provides perspective for me... And now I can see that being at home doesn't mean physically never leaving the house... It means your life revolves around your home... it is the center of your ministry, activities, and life... You may leave, but you always come back... :)

3) What is your favorite movie? I hate it when I get asked that... There are so many!!! For the sake of ease, I will cut out Mini-Series and Super long costume dramas... I would have to saaaaaay........... *thinking*.............. Ok, I am going to say my top three favorite movies... There is no way I could narrow it down to one... A Knight's Tale, Despicable Me, and THOR... :)

4) What is your favorite band/artist? Yay, an easy one!!!! The Band Perry!!!!!! :D

5) Do you like to cook? Eh, no... But I will if I have to... I just don't willfully seek it out as an activity of enjoyment...

6) What is something you like to do for fun? Dance!!!!! I do English Country Dancing and I am going to be taking Ballroom very soon... ;)

7) How did you get started blogging? Ummm... Because some of my friends did it and I needed a creative outlet at the time... :)
